Welcome to the 2021-2022 Year!

The SGUO Board wants to welcome all new members to a new and exciting year! With our new logo comes new ideas and initiatives for this academic year that we hope will take this organization to the next level. The predominant goal SGUO wishes to achieve this year is to provide a "private school" feel within the #1 Public University in the United States! We hope to create an intimate and resourceful learning/networking environment among both current and past members of the Institute of Society and Genetics. In doing so, students will actively learn about the several job opportunities at the intersections of public health, medicine, law, public policy, ethics, and society; they will also be able to engage in discussions with multi-disciplinary professionals and students to further develop their passion for the field.

Joining SGUO will give members access to specific volunteer opportunities, networking and social events, along with a newly implemented leadership program! This year, SGUO will give its general body members the opportunity to join and lead committees within the club (ex: marketing, event planning, membership, outreach). These committees will give members not in the board a chance to practice and display leadership qualities, that will be considered when reviewing the Human Biology and Society Major Application and the SGUO Board Application. Additionally, these roles will allow students to truly immerse themselves in the initiatives of the club.

Members can also look forward to guidance from our well-established mentor/mentee program, board application workshops, and "tea-time" with professors. For all students interested in engaging with ISG either through the HBS major or the Society and Genetics minor, our club will provide ample opportunities for students to feel like the Institute of Society and Genetics is the right place for them!
